The Aquaracer Reborn
The Aquaracer Reborn
The Aquaracer is back! TAG Heuer’s go-anywhere luxury tool watch, loved by active, style-conscious men and women who push their limits, explore the seas and go beyond the edge, emerges with a bright new look, new materials and a new lease of life. Designed for work and play, and to soak up nature’s harshest challenges, the new- generation Aquaracer Professional 300 watch is a pure symbol of TAG Heuer’s fearless avant-garde spirit, and sets a new high-water mark when it comes to ergonomic, extreme-performance, mechanical watches.
With a striking, instantly recognisable aesthetic, epitomised by the Aquaracer’s 12 faceted bezel, the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 watch showcases bold yet elegant lines with a highly robust yet luxury feel which is contemporary, but recalls a legacy that began more than 40 years ago when the brand released the Heuer Ref. 884 diver’s watch in 1978.
Below The Surface
To create a bold, high-performance, ergonomic watch for diver’s that is distinctively TAG Heuer, whilst delivering design and material refinements that would meet and exceed the high expectations of today’s customers, whilst respecting the tradition the company’s diver’s watch tradition, is no easy task! Working to update and upgrade six signature features of the Aquaracer collection– since 1983, the watch has always offered a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown, at least 200 metres water resistance, luminous marking, a sapphire crystal glass, and a double safety clasp – the new model showcases the following:
- The bezel keeps the basic form but with the integration of a scratch-resistant ceramic insert and fluting to each of the facets making it easier to grip and turn.
- The sapphire crystal glass now features a magnifier over the date at 6 o’clock into the underside of the glass, so that the surface is smooth to touch and easier to read from wider angles.
- The hour hand is wider and more sword-shaped (reminiscent of the last of the TAG Heuer 2000 series introduced in 2004), whilst a narrower minute hand creates a clearer distinction between the two in low-light conditions. For extra clarity, designers chose green Super-Luminova® for the hour hand and markers, and blue Super-Luminova® for the minute hand.
- The crown protection is now softer, and more rounded, cupping the crown in a style reminiscent of the Ref. 844 model.
Although small details, combined, these changes become significant, delivering greater legibility, meaning a diver can refer to their watch with far greater confidence, even in extreme conditions.
During the conceptual phase, TAG Heuer’s designers also recognised that, as well as being a reliable instrument, the Aquaracer Professional 300 needed to be adaptable to multiple environments as more and more wearers are turning to diver’s watches for their robustness and versatility, while at the same time wanting a watch for both work and play.
With this in mind, the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 models have evolved through a slimmed down, thinner and lighter case, bezel and bracelet without compromising the watch’s core performance features, such as water-resistance to 300 metres.
To complete the look and feel, the new watches also see the return of the famous scaphander diving suit on its caseback. This familiar, authoritative motif continues to underline the value of the watch to its users, who are the latest in a long line of underwater explorers who choose the Aquaracer.
The Perfect Fit
Featuring seven references, two sizes and a new bracelet fine adjustment system, the new TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300’s sophisticated dynamic isn’t just limited to design fundamentals.
With four references in a 43mm case size, and three measuring 36mm, six of the new models showcases a stainless steel case with the choice of a black, blue or silver dial, with complementing uni-directional rotating bezel. There will also be a 43mm piece crafted from high-tech matt Grade 2 titanium with a green dial and green ceramic bezel insert.
The TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 models also feature a new integrated metal bracelet design, which is equipped with a highly sophisticated fine adjustment system - that can extend or reduce the bracelet length by up to 1.5cm - enabling the wearer to resize the bracelet to be worn over a wetsuit, or cater for changes in temperature, without having the take the watch off.
Marking a new chapter in TAG Heuer’s luxury tool watch story, the introduction of the Aquaracer Professional 300 collection is just where the story starts…
