Tissot Turns Up The Mix Of Modern & Retro With A Cinematic New PRX 35mm Campaign

The cool lines and trailblazing late-70s vibe of the Tissot PRX made it an instant classic when it relaunched in 2021. The thinking, design-first spirit of the 1978 original translated so naturally into our time. Now, Tissot amps up the story event further with the release of an edgy, cinematic campaign that will catapult the PRX event deeper into the cultural mainstream.

A Journey, Not A Destination

Telling the story of five aspirational characters, friends with their own look and personality but united by their attitude, lifestyle and choice of the new Tissot PRX 35mm, the scene is classic pop culture - a car, a gas station and a destination unknown. The scent of freedom charges the air, and everything seems possible. Because who needs a plan?

Life is off-the-cuff. It's there to be seized. You've got to beat the clock and make every minute count.

Cue the pulpy licks of an Americana soundtrack, the lip-gloss close-up, fistfuls of snacks, driving til sunrise, and the ticking of 5 PRX watches with 5 different dial colours. And the name of the gas station? PRX - glowing in limbic neon pink.

A Blast From The Past

When it first launched in 1978, the Tissot PRX was about style and freedom of expression. It was brave, mischievous, rebellious even. Now, more than 40 years later, the same is true. The campaign captures the liminal moment of youthful awakening and feeling of liberation. The protagonists are brimming with confidence and hungry to explore the world at their feet. And there's space for everyone. The cinematic references are reassuringly familiar, so. much that we can all cast ourselves into the narrative. It's escapism at its purest and most intoxicating. So just where, the campaign asks implicitly, will your PRX journey take you?

Saying It All - The PRX 35mm

At its heart, the new Tissot PRX 35mm. Last year's revived PRX had a 40mm case and a quartz or automatic movement. This year, Tissot has added a unisex 35mm case, with a choice of satin-brushed steel models with either blue, green, light blue or silver sunburst dials, and a further model with a yellow-gold PVD-coated case and dial.

Otherwise, the look picks on the 1978 original PRX model and last year's revival. Still there is the thin, perfectly polished bezel, as are the angular, vertically brushed case flanks, and the tapered metal bracelet. Inside is a Swiss Made quartz movement.

The PRX and PRX campaign: modern-vintage classic.
