The Ultimate Divers' Watch

A magnificent example of a tool watch and the symbol of a lifestyle made up of aquatic adventures, the TUDOR Pelagos is one of the most complete traditional mechanical divers' watches on the market.

TUDOR Pelagos 42

The history of the TUDOR divers' watch is closely tied to its intensive use by professionals in underwater work, particularly by major navies throughout the world. The brand's submersible products are genuine tools, which have evolved over the years to take into account the comments of these intensive users.

When the Pelagos model was developed, it was with this heritage in mind and based on numerous tests carried out in real conditions all over the world - particularly on Lake Geneva, close to TUDOR's headquarters - that its characteristics specific to extreme diving were established.

The first of these is substantial waterproofness, guaranteed to a depth of 500 metres and equipped with a helium escape valve, an essential device for preserving the watch during so-called "saturation" dives.

Another essential characteristic of a good diving instrument is its readability. Several solutions have been adopted on the TUDOR Pelagos model to optimise this. Its dial presents generously sized square hour markers, complete with a large quantity of greater luminous material, a guarantee of greater effectiveness that provides excellent contrast. The luminescence is blue, the last colour on the spectrum to be discernible at great depths. Its hands, particularly the hour hand with its characteristic square tip, allows the wearer to distinguish it from the minute hand at first glance.

Incidentally, this configuration, often known as "snowflake" in collectors' circles, is emblematic of TUDOR divers' watches produced from 1969 onwards. This is another way in which Pelagos fits perfectly into the brand heritage.

With the same goal for optimum readability, the ceramic disc of its titanium unidirectional rotating bezel features luminous markers that allows for all information to be read even in condition of extremely low visibility.

In addition to its original matt black version, the TUDOR Pelagos 42 is offered in matt blue, the emblematic colour of the brand's divers' watches since the 1960s and the chosen by the French Navy for the TUDOR Submariners that have been used in great numbers by its divers.

It presents the additional distinction "CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED" written on two lines on the dial, in reference to the chronometric certification of its movement, as well as its name "PELAGOS".

TUDOR Pelagos LHD

In a nod to its past, TUDOR also offers the Pelagos model in a "left-handed" version, with its winding stem on the left of the middle case so it can be worn on the right wrist.

Wearing a divers watch specifically on the right wrist requires specific ergonomic characteristics. Before the advent of this watch, left-handed divers could be seen wearing their watch turned upside down on the right wrist and were only able to use the minutes elapsed calculating function, leaving their dominant hand free to access the winder.

Previously producing watches of this type at the specific request of diving professionals, for example the French Navy, the introduction of the Pelagos LHD, or Left-Hand Drive, to the TUDOR range allows the brand to offer a complete range of technical divers' watches, at the same time as bringing a little-known part of its product development history to light.

Manufacture Calibre

Both the TUDOR Pelagos 42 and Pelagos LHD are equipped with a Manufacture Calibre MT5612, which provides an impressive 70-hour power reserve.

In addition to the hour, minute and central second functions, the Manufacture Calibre MT5612 provides an instant date display visible through an aperture positioned at 3 o'clock. Beating to a frequency of 28,800 beats/hour, or 4 Hz, the calibre is regulated by a variable inertia oscillator with silicon balance spring, held in place by a traversing bridge fixed at both sides to improve resistance to shocks and vibrations. Its self-winding system is bidirectional and certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

TUDOR Pelagos 39

The TUDOR Pelagos is also available in a 39mm version - a versatile model which sits at the crossroads between the world of technical diving and urban sophistication.

Featuring grade 2 titanium case which is water resistant to 200m, luminescent ceramic composite monobloc hours markers, a rapid adjustment system for the clasp and a divers' extension, the TUDOR Pelagos 39 combines the brand's professional dive watch heritage with the versatility of a compact case and the striking radiance of sunray satin finished on its bezel and dial.

Achieving its aesthetic balance through an entirely satin-brushed case which artfully contrasts with the radiance of its bezel insert - made of black ceramic with an enhanced sunray satin finish - the TUDOR Pelagos 39's bezel diameter slightly exceeds the middle case for maximum grip.

The Pelagos 39 is equipped with a Manufacture Calibre MT5400. Its construction has been designed to ensure robustness, longevity, reliability, and precision due to its variable inertia balance, which is held in place by a sturdy traversing bridge with two points of fixation. Thanks to this balance and the non-magnetic silicon balance spring, the Manufacture Calibre MT5400 has been certified as a chronometer by COSC.

Supplied with an entirely satin-brushed titanium bracelet that is equipped with the TUDOR "T-fit" clasp for rapid length adjustment, the TUDOR Pelagos 39 also has a 25mm bracelet extension function which allows the watch to be worn over a wetsuit and is supplied with an additional black rubber strap.
