THE JUNE BIRTHSTONE: MOONSTONE
The most popular of all the feldspar mineral variety, orthoclase, the Moonstone has an unearthly glow, also referred to as a billowy blue sheen, caused by light scattering between microscopic layers.
The billowy blue sheen of the moonstone gives each stone a unique finish, with no one stone looking like another. Available in white, grey, green, peach, brown and colourless. The colourless moonstone tends to be the most popular variation of this truly individual gemstone.
Associated with lunar deities and said to be made of solid moonbeams, the moonstone has strong ties to Roman, Greek and Hindu legends.
Some believe that by holding moonstone in your mouth during a full moon you could see the future.
Moonstone is a symbol of love, passion and fertility, it is said to bring the wearer great luck.
