TAG Heuer Carrera Watches
In 1963, Jack Heuer created the Carrera watch in tribute to the famous Carrera Panamericana auto race that is widely considered to be the most dangerous in the world. Just as exciting as the race that inspired it, the watch broke traditional watchmaking rules and was the first chronograph specifically designed for professional drivers, but perfect for speeding down the open road or cruising through daily life, thanks to a simpler, more elegant, more readable design.
The perfect co-pilot for car enthusiasts both on and off the racetrack, the TAG Heuer Carrera features a large opening face for excellent readability, special luminescent hands and markers to light the way and a folding clasp with a built in security system. An essential function for timing race cars and recording lap times, when Edouard Heuer launched his first Heuer chronograph in 1882 and registered the patent for the oscillating pinion in 1887, it sent shockwaves through the watchmaking industry and made the company synonymous with the chronograph function.
The backbone of TAG Heuer and pioneers in accessible luxury, the brand’s Calibre 1887 movement broke the mould as TAG Heuer’s first in-house movement and is one of the most reliable calibres on the market today. Continuing to push limits and make improvements to this classic calibre, the HEUER 01 movement is now TAG Heuer’s most advanced design with the HEUER 02T models being the ultimate avant-garde Swiss-made chronograph Heuer watches.
