Bremont unveils the Terra Nova Jimmy Chin
British watch brand Bremont announces the launch of the Terra Nova Jimmy Chin, in collaboration with the world-renowned adventurer, photographer, alpinist, and award-winning filmmaker. As a brand ambassador for Bremont, Chin's adventurous spirit and passion for exploration has inspired this exceptional timepiece, designed for those who embrace the outdoors and the thrill of adventure.
Not only an accomplished alpinist, but also a celebrated filmmaker, Jimmy Chin is best known for his work on Oscar-winning documentary "Free Solo" and highly acclaimed "Nyad", with his deep connection to nature, and commitment to pushing boundaries, resonating with Bremont's ethos of adventure and exploration.
"I am incredibly excited to partner with Bremont on these limited-edition watches," comments Chin. "They represent the spirit of adventure and the pursuit of excellence in everything I do, whether on the mountain or behind the camera."
Available in two variations, the Terra Nova Jimmy Chin 42.5mm Chronograph is a perfect representation of Jimmy Chin's unique and multi-faceted profile. Robust and sporty in nature, the timepiece captures the essence of Chin's elite athletic power but also adds a second-dimension dear to Jimmy, reflecting his creative side as a filmmaker and photographer. "Sport-chic" in its execution, the chronograph features warm and elegant shades of rose gold across the case and dial, offering a mix of warm aged indexes, golden hands and counters.
Featuring the contemporary, geometric cushion case of the Terra Nova collection, the Terra Nova Jimmy Chin is available in two limited-edition variants: a full 18ct rose gold edition (15 pieces) or a 904L steel and rose gold version (100 pieces). Both models are presented in an elegant wooden display box, accompanied by a copy of Jimmy Chin's extraordinary book of alpine photography: "There and back: Photographs from the Edge".
Framed by a bi-directional rose gold bezel with black ceramic insert featuring compass markers, the models feature a black dial with date function at 6 o'clock and light brown full Super-LumiNova® block numerals, for enhanced visibility. Complemented by rose gold coloured sub dials in a reverse panda execution, the Super-LumiNova® application continues across the indexes on the railroad minute track and central rose gold hands. Finally, the central running second chronograph hand is executed in red, a nod to the red lacquered colour that Chin applies to his photography, which references and honours his Asian heritage.
Turning the watch over reveals an extraordinary exhibition case back, which is decorated with an evocative image of the Teton mountain range, and area close to Jimmy Chin's heart as it's his second home in Wyoming and his local proving ground. " The picture is one I took with my mobile landing in Jackson a place that is special to me. I am impressed by how the Bremont team has translated this image on the case back decoration creating something that is unexpected and unique" comments Chin.
Creating the Terra Nova Jimmy Chin was an incredibly organic process, with designs and ideas exchanged by Chin and Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato over the last year.
"A design collaboration is a unique journey of mutual discovery and only a deep understanding of each other's point of view and passion can lead to a perfect result. Going through this journey with a unique man like Jimmy has been a rich and memorable experience" comments Davide Cerrato, Bremont CEO.
Refencing and inspired by the military pocket watches of the early 20th century, the styled and meticulously crafted Terra Nova includes all the hallmarks of these original timepieces, capturing their rugged elegance, practicality, simplicity, and essential functionality, but reinterpreted for the 21st century.
